Getting to the Amalfi Coast requires a little planning, but the destination is worth the journey. Here are the best strategies we have found for booking flights.
The closest airport is Naples (NAP). If you can find a good connection here, it is the easiest option because you are only about an hour's drive or ferry ride from Sorrento.
We also recommend flying into Rome (FCO) as an alternative. It usually offers more direct flights and better prices. From Rome, you simply hop on the high-speed train (Frecciarossa) to Naples, which takes just over an hour.
Don't be afraid to break up your trip! Sometimes it is significantly cheaper to book a "positioning flight" to a major hub first.
A reminder to check that passports are valid for at least 6 months past the travel date.
We recommend staying at the Grand Hotel Europa Palace, where we'll be hosting our Welcome Party. We also recommend Hotel Plaza, as both hotels are centrally located in the heart of Sorrento. We expect room bookings to open around September 2026 and will keep everyone updated as we learn more.
WhatsApp is the standard way to communicate with everyone in Italy — from your driver to the boat captain. It works over WiFi/Data so you won't get charged for international texts.
While most restaurants take credit cards, always carry 50–100 Euros in smaller bills. You will need it for tipping, taxis (whose card machines are often "broken"), and spontaneous lemon gelato.
The Amalfi Coast is beautiful but steep. Between the cobblestones and the stairs, stilettos are a safety hazard. We highly recommend block heels, wedges, or dressy sandals.
This is a popular region! If you see a restaurant on this list (or Instagram) that you are dying to try, please book it 2–3 months in advance.
Italy uses Type L (three pins in a row) or Type C (two pins) plugs. Pick one up before your trip!
We have curated a list of our absolute favorite experiences to help you make the most of your trip. Whether you are here for a few days or a full week, we hope you fall in love with this place just as much as we have.
If you only do one extra excursion, make it this one. There is nothing quite like seeing the coast from the water. We recommend booking a private boat to drive around the island of Capri, swim in the grottos, and see the Faraglioni rocks up close. It is truly magical.
La Conca del Sogno is a stunning beach club and restaurant tucked away in a secluded cove in Nerano. It feels exclusive, relaxing, and incredibly fun. The food is fresh, the water is clear, and the vibe is unmatched.
Positano is the jewel of the Amalfi Coast. We love spending an afternoon wandering the steep, winding streets, shopping for ceramics, and soaking in the views.
Wrap up a perfect day of exploring the coast by immersing yourself in an Italian ritual: the aperitivo. Located within the historic walls of the Bellevue Syrene, Il Costiera Bar turns sunset into an art form.
Located in a stunning, secluded cove in neighboring Positano, this is the ultimate beach day. We highly recommend looking at their website and booking a package well before the trip!
Enjoy a hands-on Italian cooking class at La Gavitella, where you'll learn to make fresh pasta and authentic Neapolitan pizza with expert local chefs. Finish by enjoying your meal on a stunning seaside terrace overlooking the Amalfi Coast.
There is nothing quite like seeing these five colorful fishing villages stacked against the rugged cliffs. We recommend taking the train from Florence to the first village, Riomaggiore, and then hopping on the local ferry to hop between Manarola and Vernazza. Seeing the coast from the water is truly magical and one of the most special places in Italy!
You cannot leave Florence without experiencing a proper Bistecca alla Fiorentina—a massive T-bone steak grilled over wood fire. Here are a few places we recommend: Buca Lapi, Trattoria Sostanza, and Trattoria 13 Gobbi.
If you want the absolute best view of Rome, head here. Perched just above Trastevere, this spot offers a sweeping panorama of the entire city. We recommend grabbing a bottle of wine and finding a spot on the wall to watch the sunset — you can even spot the Colosseum in the distance. It is peaceful, romantic, and truly feels like you are floating above the domes.
Honestly, your presence in Italy is the greatest gift we could ever ask for! We fully understand the effort and travel required for you to be here with us, so please, do not feel obligated to get us anything. We will add a small registry option closer to the date for anyone who still wishes to send a gift.
We strongly recommend against renting a car. The roads on the Amalfi Coast are extremely narrow, winding, and crowded. Parking is scarce and expensive. We have arranged transportation for the wedding events, and for your free time, we recommend hiring private drivers or using ferries.
We can't wait to see you look your best!
Shuttles will depart from downtown Sorrento on the day of the wedding. We will share exact times and pickup location once we get closer to the date!
Our wedding events will be adults-only (except for Carter Black ;). We hope you view this as a fun getaway to enjoy a few spritzes!
We will be having a smaller destination wedding and are only able to accommodate the guests named on your invitation.
We know that traveling to join us is a significant commitment of both time and money. Please know that we completely understand if you are unable to make the journey and there will be absolutely zero hurt feelings. For those who are able to attend, we hope you make this a trip of a lifetime, and we look forward to helping make it one! We would love nothing more than to have you there, but we will feel your love from afar if you can't make it.
